Users from time to time might occasionally encounter an "Aw, snap!" error when using CrankWheel, or other web-based systems or web pages.
These errors are crashes in the Google Chrome browser software provided by Google.
Crashes may be reported to Google and additional details added by typing chrome://crashes into a new browser tab in Chrome, finding the most recent crash, and clicking the button to provide additional information.
If you consistently experience a crash when using a particular CrankWheel feature or going through a particular procedure when using CrankWheel, please do let us know about it via our support channels. We may already have a solution for you from helping other users, and we may also be able to help get Google's attention on the issue, even though we are not able to directly fix a crash in 3rd party software.
Recent Known "Aw, snap!" Issues
Early June 2026
This "Aw, snap!" is accompanied with an ERROR_BREAKPOINT error message.
The software defect existed in the Google Chrome browser for Windows, version 149.0.7827.54 and possibly some versions close to that.
We worked to inform Google of the crash along with affected users that we heard from, and they fixed it in an updated release of Chrome a few days later (version 149.0.7827.103 or newer).
For any affected users, the recommended resolution is to try to update the Chrome browser. Steps to do so are as follows:
1. In any Chrome window, click the 3-dot menu near the top right of the browser window.
2. Go to Help / About Google Chrome
3. Allow it to check for updates, then click "Relaunch now" if/when it prompts for that.
If you are in a locked-down environment and not able to update Google Chrome, you may need to ask IT for assistance.
