macOS Catalina - not getting desktop notifications

If you've recently upgraded to macOS Catalina, or just bought a new Mac, you may experience a problem where you do not get desktop notifications from CrankWheel, for example when there is an Instant Demos request.

Other users are experiencing similar issues with other applications such as Google Calendar for the same reason, there is some interaction between Google Chrome and macOS Catalina when it comes to notifications that makes some of them work and others not.

A workaround that we've tested to work is as follows:

  1. Open a new browser tab in Google Chrome
  2. Type in chrome://flags/ and hit Enter
  3. Search for "Enable native notifications" and in the drop-down menu next to it, select "Disabled". This will prompt you to restart Chrome. Go ahead and do so.
  4. Restart Chrome and now, you should get notifications on your desktop, although they will be in a slightly different style than you are used to.

If the above does not help you resolve the problem, please let us know by emailing support@crankwheel.com.
